Are there any sermon videos I can watch?
Yes, with a few caveats. Bridge City has had a Youtube channel for many years. There are more than 200 sermons archived there. However, these are not current. While they are a part of our theological conversation which has developed over the years, we can’t promise that they represent us well today. Who we are as a church has evolved since we were regularly recording videos.
Presently we do not record our sermons on purpose. We view the sermon as a pastoral act that tries to discern the intersection of scripture with the current life of the church body. Good sermons are local, meant for the people in the room. With this in mind, we’ve stopped recording them. This has freed those who preach to focus their attention fully on the people present and their sense of God’s word to them, without the need to address others outside the community who are not in a relationship with us.
If you still want to sample some teaching to get a sense of what kinds of things you might hear, Marc (our primary teaching elder) produces a podcast that comes out twice a month. His podcast often presents material that was developed in the context of Bridge City sermons but is edited for general use beyond our church. The kinds of things you hear in his podcast are representative of the content of the preaching you might hear at Bridge City. A few representative examples are listed below. These presentations began their life in the table conversation and sermons of Bridge City.
